DEVELOPMENT A WEATHER-RELATED PROJECT FOR ANY PLATFORM

We are looking for coders of all types to make opensource projects using our Weather Data API.
We offer global historical weather data, current conditions, and weather forecasts.
So, if you’ve always wanted to play with weather data, this is your chance.
Or maybe you have a school project that is a good match for this project.
You can do anything that you want with your project as long as it uses our weather data, you release the code as opensource, and put it on a public code repository such as GitHub.
How it works.

Take a look at our Weather API - [login to view URL] 2.
Come up with your weather project idea.
3.
Reply to this offer with a brief description of your project (1 paragraph is fine) and a $150 bid.
4.
We plan to accept many projects, so your idea has an excellent chance.
5.
If we accept your project, we will create a $150 Milestone for you.
6.
You will then write your code and make sure that it runs.
Also, make sure that you write at least 200 lines of code.
Realistically, no one is going to count the lines, but you have to at least make a good effort.
If you don’t create something at least somewhat reasonable, we reserve the right to cancel your Milestone.
7.
Submit your project to GitHub or similar code repository along with a description that includes a link to our site.
(You can link to our homepage, our API documentation, etc.) 8.
To claim your $150 Milestone, send us a link to your project on GitHub or a similar public code repository along with a screenshot of what you have created.

What language should I use to write my code? A.
Use any language and toolset that is interesting to you.
Be as creative as you want as long as someone else might be interested in it, too.

What should my project do? A.
It is up to you as long as it includes our weather data.
You can make it as simple as you want, or you can write the next great mobile weather app.
The more creative you are, the more likely you are to be selected.
Afterall, we don’t need 50 JavaScript weather widgets.

I have a great idea, but I can’t do it for $150.
Can I still participate? A.
Yes and no.
Unfortunately, this offer is limited to $150 per project.
Of course, you could always use our $150 as a jumpstart toward your great idea.
Just make sure that you can complete something that works usefully in the near term.

Can I reuse this code for something else? A.
Of course! Our only requirement is that you release the code as opensource and post it publically.
If you can get school credit, a raise from your boss, or a beer from your friend in addition to our $150, good for you! • Q.
Can I submit more than one project? A.
Yes, you can submit up to 5 projects in the same bid.
Just make sure to give each project a unique name.
We may decide not to fund all of your projects, so we will need a way to tell you which ones to complete.
In the case that we approve multiple projects for you, we will issue a separate $150 Milestone for each.
That way, if you complete some projects and not others, we can pay you for the ones that you complete.

Can you give me some good project ideas? A.
Making a wrapper around our API for your favorite language is always a good idea, especially if your favorite language is not at the top of the mainstream language list.
Mobile weather apps can be interesting, especially if you plan on continuing development beyond this project.
Simple embedded projects on platforms such as Raspberry Pi or Arduino are also fun.
Visualizations are nice either on a webpage or in a language such as R.
Finally, any project with AI in the description is almost certain to be selected.

How many projects will you accept in total? A.
We plan to accept as many reasonable submissions as we receive up to 100 total.
What else should I know? • Do not submit a bid for any amount other than $150.
We will be forced to ignore your bid if you make it for more.
Even if you submit multiple project ideas, please just bid $150.
We will automatically create a separate $150 Milestone for each approved project.
• You will have 3 weeks to complete your project(s), so please consider projects that can show an initial result within 3 weeks.
Of course, you can continue to improve your project after 3 weeks, but you should submit your results to us within 3 weeks in order to claim your $150 Milestone.
After 3 weeks, we reserve the right to withdraw the Milestone.
However, if you get caught in a bind and need more time for some reason, please let us know.
We’ll do our best to work with you.
• You may find that our free service level ( free query records per day) is too limiting for your development and testing.
If so, please send an email with your project name to our support team, tell them that you are working on the Freelancer project, and they will give you additional query capacity for free.
• Finally, our support is open to you should you have any questions while making your project.
What should my bid include? • Make sure that your bid is for $150 only.
• Give your project a title.
• Tell us what language(s) you plan to write in.
• Write a brief description (1 paragraph is fine) of what your project will do.
Make sure that it includes using our Weather Data API ([login to view URL]).
• You do NOT need to include your resume, links to previous work, etc.
We will be glad to accept your proposal whether this is your first Freelancer project or if you are a seasoned pro.
What does my deliverable need to include? • A link to your code on GitHub or a similar code repository.
Your GitHub project should include a description of your work along with a link to somewhere on our website.
• A screenshot of your code in action doing something.
