Offer Description CALL FOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP Associação para o Desenvolvimento da Aerodinâmica Industrial - ADAI opens a call for 1 fellowship, in the framework of project AdsorSeason - Armazenamento de energia solar térmica por adsorção de longa duração, reference .
TDC, financed by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, in the following conditions.
Scientific area(s).
Mechanical Engineering Skills/Qualifications/Admission requirements Applicants who fulfill the following requisites will be considered.
a) Experience in thermal energy storage systems; b) Experience in adsorption technology; c) Experience in modelling thermal systems and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) Work plan/ Objectives The AdsorSeason project consists of defining and optimising a new configuration for a long-term solar thermal energy storage system with high storage density and low thermal losses, combining an adsorption module with a conventional hot water storage system.
To do this, the research team needs to define new configurations for the adsorption system.
It is in this context that the grant holder will develop his/her work plan, participating in the development of the following tasks.
a) Study of the application of multi-stage adsorption technology in the context of thermal accumulation; b) Development of a numerical CFD model to evaluate operating conditions; c) Integrating the solution into a thermal systems’ modelling and simulation tool; d) Submission of articles and dissemination of results.
Regime.
The attribution of the fellowship does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal-labour nature, and the fellowship is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime.
The fellowship holder is awarded the Fellowship Statute of ADAI, in its current wording, according to the Research Fellowship Holder Statute, and according to the Regulation for Research Fellowships of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.
., both in their current wording.
Location.
Work will be developed within the activities of the Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics of the Associated Laboratory in Energy, Transport and Aeronautics (ADAI-LAETA).
The work place is mainly in DEM-FCTUC and possibly other places that are necessary for the execution of the work plan.
Duration.
The fellowship will last for 12 months on an exclusive basis, with the possibility of renewal, but never beyond the end date of the project, in accordance with the FCT Research Fellowship Regulations and the ADAI Scientific Research Fellowship Regulations.
Renewal.
The eventual renewal of the scholarship will be done as determined in art.
6 of the Regulation of Research Scholarships of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.

Scientific orientation.
The work will be carried under the scientific guidance of Professors Adélio Gaspar and Marco Fernandes.
Financial conditions.
The amount of the fellowship is € corresponding to the monthly compensation stipulated in the FCT table (https://www.
ct.
t/wp-content/uploads//Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_202…), plus the reimbursement of social security (Seguro Social Voluntário, first level contributions) and personal accidents insurance.
The payment will be made by bank transfer.
This amount will not be increased during the entire period of the fellowship duration.
Selection Methods.
All applications submitted within the deadline and containing all required documents will be evaluated.
Selection criteria.
The main selection method will be the Curricular Evaluation.
If necessary, an Interview will be carried out (40% weighting) with the three best candidates selected, to assess the candidates' experience and knowledge.
In the Curricular Evaluation the following elements will be considered.
- Academic curriculum relevant to the objective of the work program (60%); - Scientific and/or professional curriculum relevant to the objective of the work program (40%); In the Interview the following parameters will be evaluated.
- Experience and knowledge for the successful execution of the project tasks (35%); - Fluidity of speech and ability to convey ideas orally (30%); - Motivation and commitment (35%).
Candidates with a classification lower than , in the Curricular Evaluation, will be excluded from the competition.
In case the first-placed candidate does not accept the scholarship or gives up the scholarship during the course of the work program, the second-placed candidate may be invited to accept the scholarship.
This procedure may be repeated, according to the decision of the grantee's supervisors, respecting the order of the list included in the selection process minutes in subsequent cases of non-acceptance or withdrawal.
The Jury reserves the right not to place any of the candidates.

At all times during the evaluation process, confidentiality is fully protected and ensured in order to guarantee the independence of all opinions produced.

- letter of motivation, where the applicant must mention if he / she is available to start the scholarship; - Curriculum Vitae, with indication of email and telephone contact; - Certificate of qualifications 1; - The candidate's declaration of honor on the benefit of other previous scholarships awarded under the current FCT Scholarship Regulation; - Any other elements or documents considered relevant.
Note 1.
Important note for candidates holding a degree issued by foreign higher education institutions.
In the case of academic degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions, and to guarantee the principle of equal treatment among applicants with national and foreign academic degrees, the applicants must submit proof of recognition of such degrees and the conversion of the respective final average grade to the Portuguese grading scale under the terms of the applicable legislation.
Applicants with recognized foreign academic degrees who do not submit a proof of conversion of the final average grade to the Portuguese grading scale will be evaluated with the minimum grade of 0 (zero) points in criterion Curriculum Evaluation.
In any case, scholarship contracts with applicants whose diplomas have been issued by foreign institutions will only be concluded upon presentation of proof of recognition of academic degrees and conversion of the final average grade, as indicated above.
Submission deadline date 14 th to 27 th November Expected starting date 1 st January Additional information The evaluation results will be announced within 90 working days after the end of the applications submission deadline, by notifying the applicants via email.
After the announcement of the results, candidates are considered automatically notified to, if they wish to do so, comment on the results on a preliminary hearing period within 10 days after that date.
After this, the selected candidates will have to declare in writing their acceptance.
Unless a justification worthy of consideration is presented, if the declaration is not submitted within the referred period, it is considered that the candidate waivers the fellowship.
In case of resignation or withdrawal of the selected candidate, the next candidate with the highest evaluation score will be notified immediately.
Once the selection process is completed, the fellowship contract will be drawn up in accordance with the draft contract provided by the FCT.
Selection reserve list The selection reserve list must be available throughout the project.
