Royal Mail is modernizing all it's software. My job was to create an API for customers to request barcodes for parcels. The software also had a UI side for internal use only. We had to handle hundreds of requests per minute while making sure the data consistency. We made use of several libraries like POLLY among others to achieve the data reliability while providing responses as fast as possible to our customers. As additional roles, I was in charge of the deployment process. We script all the processes using powershell. The deployment process was automated/semi‑automated. It was ready to be remote executed from Azure, or if it needed, download the deployment files, execute a ps1 script and it would fully install the app with all it's dependencies. It could be run on any newly installed windows and after the script was finished, the app would be ready to be used.

I planned and configured the build pipeline on azure devops. We had several builds, production, automated tests, testers and pre‑prod. Each environment had its own hardware configuration (number of servers) so each deploy had to be adjusted to reflect the needs of the final environment.
