This position aims at a crowding information system architecture that considers several concerns such as adaptability, reusability, reliability and scalability.
Aspects to be considered include (i) the simultaneous use of multiple communication options to mitigate local network limitations, (ii) the use of adaptive mechanisms to facilitate the systems’ control and operation of sensors.
Work Objectives The work to be carried out within the scope of this fellowship, under the supervision of Prof.
Rui Marinheiro and Prof.
Fernando Brito e Abreu from ISCTE, aims at achieving an adaptive architecture for self-configuring sensors, for a system that can be independently deployed by public administration authorities to monitor public spaces, where special events are planned, or anticipated to occur, that are expected to lead to crowding aggregation Place of Work The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações – Lisboa, under the supervision of Professor Dr.

Fernando Brito e Abreu.
Duration 6 months, with the possibility of renewal (according to the regulations defined by FCT).

Monthly Salary € according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (https://www.

The payment will be made by bank transfer.
Admission Requirements Research grants are intended.
- for students enrolled in a degree-conferring course to carry out R&D activities with the aim to consolidate their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the attainment of the respective academic degree or completion of the course (integrated or not in R&D projects).
- for students enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree but which are integrated in an educational project of a higher education institution and are developed in association or cooperation with one or several R&D units.
In what concerns the admission requirements for this research grant in particular.
This Research Grant is intended for candidates enrolled in a higher education institution (HEI) in the Lisbon region, in a course conferring a master's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Sciences or a similar scientific area.
This registration must be active at the time of contracting the scholarships.
