RESEARCH GRANT IN THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT JOINT-LAB

Summary There is an open call for one (1) Research Initiation Grant (“Bolsa de Iniciação à Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of project Joint-Lab.
Work Objectives As part of the research in power amplifiers for wireless applications that simultaneously present better performance in terms of energy efficiency and linearity, this work aims to carry out a set of simulation experiments of different amplifier architectures to determine the performance of those architectures.
This work will begin with learning the basic concepts of designing and operating radio frequency (RF) amplifiers, with emphasis on wide bandwidth applications, accompanied by a study on the use of a RF circuit simulation tool.
Next, a summary of the main amplifier architectures, that are most promising for this purpose, will be considered, with some of these being implemented and characterized.
In the final part of the work, possible modifications to these circuits will be identified so that their operational characteristics are as suited as possible to the intended performance.
Place of Work The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof.
Telmo Reis Cunha.
Duration 6 months, with the possibility of renewal.
This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 1 year.

Monthly Salary € according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.

Admission Requirements Research Initiation Grants are intended.
- for students enrolled in a professional higher technical course, undergraduate degree, integrated master's degree or master's degree, to undertake initial R&D activities, with a view to beginning their scientific training through integration in R&D projects to be developed in national institutions.
- for students carrying out initial R&D activities who are enrolled in non-degree courses integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.
Candidates must be enrolled in a higher professional technical course, a bachelor's degree, an integrated master's or a master's degree in the areas of electronics engineering (or similar) bachelor (\"licenciatura\") student with strong background on.
