PYTHON ETL DEVELOPER (GCP)

This is a hybrid role that requires you to work from any of our office locations in Atlantic Canada two (2) days a week.

Your future duties and responsibilities.
• Design, develop, and optimize ETL workflows and data pipelines to support data migration and consolidation, leveraging API and Python.
• Implement data processing and transformation logic using Pandas and SQLAlchemy, with PySpark and Databricks knowledge as a plus.
• Develop and maintain relational database solutions, particularly with SQL.
• Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and IT teams to define ETL strategies and understand requirements.
• Utilize best practices and design patterns to ensure efficient and scalable development.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues throughout the entire software lifecycle, ensuring readiness for go-live.
• Engage actively with data scientists, IT product managers, and IT Architects throughout the product lifecycle.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in ETL development and cloud-based data solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience building and automating ETL pipelines.
• Solid understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, especially BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, and Dataflow.
• Proficiency in SQL for querying, transforming, and analyzing structured data in cloud environments like BigQuery.
• Experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes (preferably GKE on GCP).
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Cloud Composer (Airflow) or Argo Workflows.
• Exposure to PySpark or Databricks is a plus, especially for processing large-scale datasets.
• Ability to apply software engineering best practices and design patterns in ETL development.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; experience working in DevOps or Agile teams.
