PROJECT MANAGER (COMPLIANCE)

Position Description.
ABOUT THE JOB.
Societe Generale's Compliance Department is responsible for monitoring compliance with the laws, regulations, directives and policies that apply to the organization's banking and financial activities, particularly in the areas of anti-money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions and embargoes, know-your-customer obligations, customer protection, market integrity, anti-corruption, data protection and customer tax transparency.
The compliance department enables the company to operate to essential compliance standards, ensures that non-compliance and reputational risks are controlled, while supporting the business with existing activities and in the development of new products or services.
Compliance acts as a second line of defense, developing and implementing policies, procedures and controls, monitoring activities, advising the business, assessing risks and providing training to ensure requirements are understood and applied, helping to spread a culture of compliance throughout the Group.
WHAT WILL YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES BE? Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to.
- Manage the relationship and coordination of projects between IT and Compliance locally and coordinate work with our global counterparts.
- Assume responsibility for the execution of the compliance strategy for the AMER region.
- Partner with compliance teams in the Americas to understand their business needs, present opportunities to enable business processes with technology and work with IT to design systems accordingly.
- Managing cross-functional projects for the compliance department.
- Partner with head office in the design, procurement and integration of state-of-the-art technology for the Americas.
- Develop the annual Americas IT Compliance Business Plan in coordination with key stakeholders.
- Manage systems development projects for new and/or enhanced applications with our technology business partners.
- Escalate key issues to compliance management.
- Manage the relationship with key suppliers as well as issue communication and resolution.
- Organize training for compliance staff on new technologies as required.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS.
Must-have.
- 3 to 5 years of project management experience.
- Experience in developing applications in a financial sector using waterfall and agile methodologies.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with one or more development languages (C++, Java, Python, R...).
- Knowledge of SQL.
- Ability to prioritize and work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Communication skills.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Analytical skills.
Able to break down complex problems into manageable single units, develop solutions for each unit and reinsert them into the whole.
- Understanding of overall risk management and compliance risks in finance.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Nice to have.
- Management/implementation of compliance-related projects.
Languages.
English, French.
The ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement as the person in this position will need to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners in the US.
