Manager I, R&D Sustaining Engineering    About the role.
We have an exciting growth opportunity for a Manager I R&D, Sustaining Engineering.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes in work priority.
This role will be as a functional manager, maintaining lead project responsibilities while managing their team and improving sustaining engineering.
This position is for hybrid or full-time office work mode in Valencia, CA.
Your responsibilities include.
Assists in and/or manages functional deliverables and ensures technical and quality excellence for our products.
Leads and supports Sustaining R&D activities.
Leads technical projects as an engineer.
Provides guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches.
Provides guidance and training to staff, assists team in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high-quality staff.
Assists in and/or completes the development of budgets and monitors spending.
Assists in identifying and developing department tools.
Assists in and/or determining appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources.
Works with project managers to understand priorities and plans resource and time allocation accordingly.
Collaboratively determines project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and R&D deliverables.
Maintains and enhances cross-functional team relationships.
Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues.
Monitors and evaluates project and department progress and results.
May Provide point of contact and divisional oversight with Manufacturing Site ME and QE management representatives.
Collaborates and works closely with Sustaining R&D Management to continually improve Sustaining, Neuromodulation, and BSC.
Understands overall Neuromodulation business and can analyze the impact each project would have to prioritize and escalate issues.
Participates in Sustaining strategy and portfolio.
What we are looking for.
BS in Engineering or technical field.
Required minimum years of work experience 5+ years.
1-2 years direct management experience preferred.
Demonstrated excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
Ability to drive to root cause of complex engineering and business problems.
Demonstrated ability to act proactively.
Strong electro-mechanical engineering and material design skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage diverse workloads.
Demonstrated test method development and validation experience.
Experience with statistical analysis (Minitab experience preferred).
Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to shifting work and staff priorities.
Ability to provide technical leadership as it relates to product, design, and process.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally %.
