Position Description.
Looking for a skilled Erwin Data Modeler to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data models using Erwin Data Modeler software.
The candidate will collaborate closely with database administrators, developers, and business analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data models.
This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This is a hybrid role that can be completed onsite from Cleveland OH or Pittsburgh PA.
Your future duties and responsibilities.
• Data Modeling.
Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models using Erwin Data Modeler to support business requirements and optimize database performance.
• Collaboration.
Work closely with database administrators, developers, and business analysts to understand data needs, provide technical expertise, and ensure alignment between data models and business requirements.
• Documentation.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, including entity-relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, and metadata, to facilitate understanding and usage by stakeholders.
• Data Governance.
Ensure compliance with data governance policies, standards, and best practices throughout the data modeling process, including data quality, security, and privacy requirements.
• Performance Tuning.
Analyze and optimize data models for performance, scalability, and efficiency, collaborating with database administrators and developers to implement enhancements as needed.
• Quality Assurance.
Conduct thorough reviews and validation of data models to identify and resolve issues, inconsistencies, and dependencies, ensuring data integrity and reliability.
• Training and Support.
Provide training and support to end-users and stakeholders on data modeling best practices, tools, and techniques, promoting understanding and adoption across the organization.
• Continuous Improvement.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data modeling and database design, and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Master's degree preferred.
• Proven experience as a data modeler or database developer, with expertise in designing and implementing data models using Erwin Data Modeler or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of database management systems (DBMS), data warehousing concepts, and SQL programming.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with data governance, data quality management, and data integration methodologies is a plus.
• Certifications in data modeling or database technologies (e.
., CDMP, Oracle, Microsoft) are desirable.
