The Civil Building Supervisor is a role responsible for managing the manpower subcontractors or in direct hiring, executing the Civil/Building construction activity under the responsibility of Civil/Building Superintendent.
He is responsible to supervise the compliance with HSE requirements and quality control policies and standards.
Civil Building Supervisor role is primarily responsible for the supervision in all scope of work of Civil/Building section on construction site.
Supervise and execute the proper prefabrication, excavation and erection activities, according to the drawings and specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities.
- Ensure to complies with all Company Policies, Procedures and Regulations in terms of Health, Safety, Environment, Security and Quality.
- Provides leadership to cause the creation of organization to ensure the work execution in compliance to the Quality and project specification.
- Coordination of all the activity starting from the project material receiving up to the completion of the erection activity.
- Organize and manage all civil activities in prefabrication area and on site, coordinating the activities of the foreman up to the helpers (subcontractors or in direct hiring).
- Reporting utilizing the applicable forms all the activities to the Civil/Building Superintendent in terms of progress, manpower, equipment’s status.
- Define, on time, in collaboration with the Civil/Building Superintendent, the needs in terms of quantity and quality of resources (personnel, vehicles and materials) on site, logistic structures (reception and storage points for materials, etc.).
Duties and Responsibilities Details.
- Verify that all the personnel are certified to execute specific task and all related certification FTW and training required to enter on site.
- Assure the establishment of the construction team (foreman, up to the helpers) according to HSE Company (and Clients) requirements and the quality assurance procedures.
- Ensuring that both the health and safety project plans are apply on site.
- Apply the waste management procedure collaborating with the HSE department.
- Apply the stop work policy toward each project phase for activities under his responsibility or not.
- Ensure that equipment and tools to execute the project activities are complying to the project activities in terms of quantities, capacity and quality.
- Use of human, material and tool resources on the construction site and prefabrication area, establishing the daily schedule of activities with the Foreman in order to maximize integration between the various work areas - Verify, on time, with the collaboration of the HSE department the permit to work.
- Organizing all workers (subcontractor or direct manpower) to performing the activities as required in accordance with project drawings, procedure.
- Ensure that each part of construction team (up to the helper) is capable of performing their allotted scope of work.
- Receive and apply from the Civil/Building Superintendent the vendor/project documentations and verify.
o Method statement o Data Sheet o Quality/Quantity of the consumable material.
o Quality/Quantity of the project material.
- Collaborate with the Material Controller and Qa/Qc dept.
for the material inspection and test activities.
- Collaborate, on time, with Material Controller to receive the material required for prefabrication and erection ensuring the quantity and quality.
- Manage the transportation from prefabrication area to site of the project material and monitor the Hand-Over to the foreman (subcontractors or in direct hiring).
- Supervise the integrity and maintenance of equipment under the using of direct manpower or subcontractor.
- Ensure that all the personnel (subcontractor or direct manpower) are certified to execute specific task.
- Verify that the site area/s is/are ready in term of.
o Availability for lifting activities (if any).
o Availability for civil excavation activity.
o Availability rebars activity on site.
o Availability for concrete pouring activity.
o Prefabrication areas required to execute the prefabrication activity, starting to the material receiving up to the delivery to erection team.
o Interferences with other discipline/contractors/operation activity in case of existing plant.
- Manage day-by-day operational aspects of Civil/Building prefabrication and erection activities starting from material inspection with Qa/Qc department and Material Controller, prefabrication activity ensuring that all equipment (Batching Plant, Crane, Formworks etc.) are suitable to perform the prefabrication on schedule, all materials (sand, concrete, gravel, rebars, etc.) are promptly purchased and inspected, all prefabrication and erection equipment (Excavator, Bum truck, Dozer, Concrete mixer, Cement pump truck, Compactor, etc.) are suitable to perform in term of quantity and capacity, up to the activity completion in collaboration with Civil/Building Superintendent, Material Controller, Technical Office dept., Qa/Qc dept., Civil/Building Foreman.
- Prepare the report (Manhour spent, equipment and tools) required by the Civil/Building Superintendent for the contract project activity and for any extra work required by Company.
- Collaborate with the other supervisors (Scaffolding, Steel Structure, Mechanical, Piping, Hydrotest, Instrumental, Electrical, Painting/Insulation, Precomm etc..) to organize the activity to avoid interference that creates dead times.
- Collaborate with the Civil/Building Superintendent during all project phase, to identify and solve any interference detected on site.
- Collaborate with the QA/QC department and ensure the certification of the activity executed during all project phases.
- Supervision of punch list items for its closure.
- Inform Civil/Building Superintendent of the progress of the work with indication of the availability and efficiency of resources, reporting any additional needs, ensuring that erection works are completed.
- Collaborate with Civil/Building Superintendent to develops short term look ahead schedules.
Work Experience Requirements.
- Minimum of 5 years of construction practical experience in Oil & Gas Plants - Having held a Civil/Building Supervisors position in the last 3 years - Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, planning and organizing ability, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, adaptability and stress tolerance - Must be a Team Member, Leader and a Team player with leadership, motivation and technical skills Soft Skills and Competencies.
