Job Description We are looking for a qualified accountant to be responsible for all elements of the Capitalisation of Development Costs process for the whole Group.
The primary purpose of the role will be to support the Group Finance team in analysing, accounting for and reporting CapDev costs in line with IFRS standards.
You will also work closely with the Tech teams to understand the R&D costs incurred and provide guidance regarding what can be capitalised or not following IFRS.
In this role you will be responsible for.
Determining which R&D costs can be capitalised rather than expensed under IFRS; Preparing the month-end journal entries required; Ensuring completed tech projects are transferred to assets in a timely manner and correct depreciation/amortisation is posted; Development of CapDev financial reporting process; Delivering accurate financial reporting on CapDev projects to all stakeholders, including Group Finance as well as Tech teams; Owning the relationship between Finance and Tech, providing guidance on the accounting treatment of the R&D costs; Guiding Tech teams on their capitalisation assessment and preparation of their business cases; Owning the CapDev assets impairment assessment.
Qualifications Recognised accounting qualification/degree; Fluent in English; Strong understanding and application of CapDev accounting under IFRS; Experience with financial reporting of CapDev projects; Excellent communication skills, knowing how to address stakeholders of all seniority levels as well as from non-finance backgrounds; Experience partnering with Tech teams; Ability to exercise sound and balanced judgement; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to work effectively both independently with appropriate support and as part of a delivery team; Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced business environment; Experience in SAP 4/HANA is a plus.
