We're counting on your energy ⚡   Combustion Engineer SME   Mission  The Combustion Engineer SME is the technical responsible for the Fired heater equipment at the site to ensure safe, reliable, and energy-efficient furnace operation.
In addition, the SME will advise on any related projects and technology deployment.
The Combustion Engineer SME will interact routinely with plant operations, maintenance, and other engineering personnel to provide “hands-on” field-engineering and troubleshooting technical guidance.
The position emphasizes teamwork, communications, planning (including Turn Around activities), hands-on technical skills with comprehensive knowledge across engineering disciplines, support to reliability and integrity studies and training of operators, maintenance staff and young Engineers.
The Combustion Engineer SME is responsible for providing discipline advice to all refinery departments.
What You'll Do The SME assures safe and energy efficient Fired Equipment operations, in all refinery processes; Perform field troubleshooting & technical assessment for Fired Equipment (like Boiler & Furnaces), including activities such as adjusting burners firing, checking on flames, air registers, checking draught, with focus on reliability and energy efficiency; Assures that the safeguarding of the Fired Equipment is according to industry design standards and assures that in daily operations, compliance to safeguarding procedures is adhered to; Perform investigations of Fired Equipment incidents to identify root cause and to prevent reoccurrence of such failures; Participate in HAZOP Studies review.
The Combustion Engineer SME will be responsible for developing, recommending, and implementing programs and procedures that will ensure recognition, measurement, evaluation, and control of potential major health and safety hazards; Initiates and leads activities to continuously optimize energy and cost efficient Fired Equipment operation and maintenance; Provide advice to Maintenance, Engineering and HSSE departments; Provides training to operations, maintenance and graduate engineers; Conduct analyses related to the design, specification, and applications engineering tasks associated with Fired Equipment  such as Boiler and Furnaces …etc.; Support material specifications as requested, and ensures that updated key documentation is in place, such as detailed drawings, P&ID’s, Data Sheets, Technical Manuals and Procedures, including repair procedures; Support Projects and Maintenance, including preparation of technical tender information, evaluate, select, engineer and implement Fired Equipment packages suitable for design needs for reliable, cost-effective, and energy efficient operation.
What You'll Need The preferred candidate has in dept knowledge of Fired Equipment operation, obtained during his/her experience in operations, maintenance and Fired Equipment design.
He/she has the analytical capability to troubleshoot and continuously drive improvement of the operation of Fired Equipment; Minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in Fired Equipment operations, knowledge of Industry (safeguarding) Standards, and participated in HAZOPs studies and Fired Equipment incident investigation, within the chemicals or oil and gas industry; The experience should cover areas such as operations, maintenance, plant engineering, safety program development, and process safety management; Demonstrated hand on experience and team working is essential; Masters the Fired Equipment industry standards and procedures related to reliable operations, safeguarding and design; Masters all aspects related to safe operation and maintenance of Fired Equipment; Knowledge of International Codes and Standards, engineering Practices and Principles within the field of Fired Equipment engineering and relevant new technologies; Skilled in HAZOP studies and Root Cause Analysis investigation methods, and able to participate in RCA/HAZOP investigation teams; Ability to plan and lead effective Fired Equipment energy efficiency improvement programs; Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and able to overcome technical challenges; Ability to maintain good working relations with internal and where needed with external stakeholders; Ability to develop training programs (where needed with external support) and deliver training to operators, maintenance staff and engineers; Knowledge of Fired Equipment project development requirements; Fluent to communicate both in Portuguese and English.
